Theological Perspective
· My theological perspective begins with the belief that God is actively involved in the
events of the world. This engagement is seen in God's promises of life and land with
Abraham and Sarah; in God’s deliverance of the Israelites from oppression in the Exodus;
in the selfless giving of God’s own life in the person of Jesus Christ on Calvary for
the reconciliation of this world; and in the conquering of the dominion of sin and death
through the resurrection of His only begotten Son. God has reconciled our world into a
new relationship with God’s own self and a new relationship with our neighbors. God
has established a new creation on earth in the here and now.
· While God’s victory was complete on the cross, we continue living apart from God’s new
order of relationships, the new creation that is ours in Jesus Christ. I believe the Holy
Spirit is continuing the work of transforming our lives through the experience and knowledge
that God loves us while we are still sinners. God continues tearing down the walls
that divide us.
· In a response of grateful obedience to God’s love, we are called to ministries of love,
care, and compassion in our communities and throughout God’s world. We are called to
witness the reality of God’s victory over sin and death. God calls us to seek out and to
live into the Kingdom of God, until that time when God’s final act will bring this reality to
its completion.
