Leadership Style
· In my style of leadership, I strive to be friendly and accessible; to listen to others, allowing
them to fully and frankly express their ideas whether I agree or disagree; to develop
confidence and trust with and among others; to seek solutions to problems that are at
least acceptable to everyone; and to engage all of my relationships with maturity, dignity,
and character.
· I want to be a leader who values everyone’s opinion. Decisions are best made by
groups of people, rather than by individuals or “power groups”.
· When conflicts arise, I try to maintain a caring spirit seeking for a mutually acceptable
solution while avoiding the temptation to be victorious in the argument.
· Effective leadership in the church is determined by the quality of the relationship between
the minister and the congregation. I seek a church that wants a mutually caring
relationship between clergy and laity.
· “People want to know you care before they care what you know.” I practice a model of
leadership and ministry which stems from a caring heart and seek a congregation that
offers back to me the same model of caring leadership and ministry.
