View of Ministry

· My view of ministry begins with the belief that God calls all Christians to be ministers. Each of us has the opportunity and responsibility to minister in every area of life. A minister of Word and Sacrament is a Christian who brings focus and clarity to the various ministries of the congregation.

· Through insightful proclamation of the Word of God, meaningful administration of the sacraments, experiential worship and liturgy, and communal engagement of scripture, the pastor helps create an environment where the transforming work of the Holy Spirit can develop disciples of Jesus Christ.

· Over the last 10 years of active ministry I have experienced and dealt with an array of situations that are common in many churches. Through these and other life experiences my future ministry will forever be inspired by the transforming power of God. I learned and I preached from the scriptures of the spirit of unity and togetherness found in Philippians; the church’s calling to be the undivided body of Christ found in Corinthians. In worship we celebrated God’s steadfast love that claims us even while we are still sinners. In our Bible studies we found the transforming grace of God’s spirit alive and working in our daily lives, empowering us to forgive as we have been forgiven.

· Using my gifts of preaching, teaching, and interpersonal skills, I want to minister with members of the congregation as we all answer the call to discipleship. I believe that the Christian life is a journey that we make together. We journey in the community of faith as ministers to one another. As a pastor, it would be my role to minister to each of you in times of joy, sorrow, achievement, and failure. I would also invite and expect the congregation to minister to me in the highs and lows of my own life. My family and I want to be an active part of the community of faith.
