Fellowship Opportunities
Join the fun, make new friends or deepen old friendships at our many fellowship activities. Enjoy eating? You may find our church barbecues, pancake breakfasts, potluck luncheons, Wednesday night church suppers and fellowship dinner groups fill the bill. Like an evening on the town? Take part in an evening at the Barter Theater. If you enjoy holiday activities, and who doesn’t, you may enjoy our annual Christmas caroling at nursing facilities followed by a hot chili dinner. For children of all ages, “Trunk-n- Treat is a safe and delightful way for the entire family to share a bit of Halloween fun. And, of course, there’s our annual All Church retreat – an intergenerational faith-growing retreat in the scenic North Carolina mountains.
New activities are continually being developed and you can be a part of this creative energy as a volunteer member of the Congregational Life Committee.
Church Night Suppers
This wonderful fellowship gathering takes place every Wednesday evening in the Fellowship Hall at First Presbyterian Church. Members and guests come together to enjoy a delicious home cooked meal followed by a brief family oriented program. We invite you and your family to drop by and enjoy a delightful evening. You can be assured of a warm welcome and we know you will want to come time and again.
Supper is served at 5:30 p.m. and the program for the evening typically begins around 6:15 p.m.
The cost for the meal is $6.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. The maximum charge for families of four or more is $15.00.
One of our most popular events is "Soup Fest". This is an annual event when members prepare their favorite soup and everyone samples as many different selections as they wish. With more than two dozen soups presented, there are plenty of selections to choose from. Then the fun begins as professional chefs carefully evaluate each entry and prizes are awarded for the "Best of class". Click here to see some of our delicious recipes!
