David began his pastoral ministry in 1995 at Rockville Presbyterian Church in Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina. In 2000 he was called to serve as pastor of Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines, North Carolina until June 2005, when he became the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Kingsport.
David holds a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary, and
has completed his doctoral studies at McCormick Theological Seminary,
receiving his Doctorate of Ministry in Preaching in May 2006.
David describes his leadership style as follows: “I strive to be friendly and accessible; to listen to others, allowing them to fully and frankly express their ideas whether I agree or disagree; to develop confidence and trust with and among others; to seek solutions to problems that are at least acceptable to everyone; and to engage all of my relationships with maturity, dignity and character. I want to be a pastor who values everyone’s opinion”.

David and his wife, Zoe Anne have a daughter, Merritt and a son, Hunter. The Cagle family also includes two dogs, Bud and Bohicket.
The entire family enjoys sports of all kinds including snow and water skiing, scuba diving, hiking and camping. They enjoy movies, a hand of cards, dinner parties and honest conversation. Mostly they like the opportunity to make new friendships.

Craig, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, attended Bristol's King College from 1994-1998 where he majored in Bible and Religion. In 2002, he earned his Masters Degree in Christian Education and Divinity from Union-PSCE and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Christian Education.
Craig was ordained in March 2004 and joined the First Presbyterian Church staff as our Associate Pastor May 2, 2004. He is committed and very motivated as he pursues his vision and fulfills his mission as a Christian educator. Church members and visitors of all ages are growing in their Christian faith as the result of Craig's work.
Craig and his wife, Kellie, a native of Bristol, Tennessee, are the proud parents of a son, Jack who joined the Foster family on October 7, 2003,
and twins Sam and Grace, born February 4, 2007.

Mark Davis-Music Director

As Music Director, Mark Davis, plans and directs all aspects of the music ministry at FPC including the Chancel, Youth, Children and Handbell choirs. He also develops and presents special music programs throughout the year and assists, as requested, with events such as weddings or memorial services.

As a
baritone soloist, Mark has been a professional musician for nearly thirty
years and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Cleveland
Institute of Music. He holds a Master of Arts degree in vocal performance and
has also completed doctoral work both at Ohio State University. In addition to
his experience as a professional musician, Mark has served as Director of
Choral music at both Marietta College in Ohio and Emory & Henry College in
Virginia where he succeeded his father, Dr. Chic Davis. Through his vocal
studio, many singers of all ages have profited from Mark's expertise. Having
served churches in Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia as part-time choral
director, Mark has said, "I believe I have been called to lead the music
ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Kingsport". In March 2006 he joined
our church full time as the Director of Music Ministries.

Deborah

We
welcome Deborah home to the Tri-Cities after 38 years in
southern California. Deborah brings with her a wealth of
professional experience which has been exercised in over
40 years of continuous music ministry. Since 1993 she
has been Director of Music/Organist at St. Edmunds
Episcopal Church in San Marino, California. She has
served five other churches over the span of her career.
Deborah graduated from Tennessee High School, after
which she was a graduate with honors from Sullins
College (A.F.A) and the University of Tennessee (B.Mus.)
in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy. She went on to
earn the Master of Music in Piano Performance from the
University of Southern California. Throughout her
career, Deborah has continuously kept a studio as a
piano and organ teacher, as well as staying
professionally active as a concert artist in chamber
music, accompanying, opera studios, and theater. In her
church work, she has enriched her programs through her
expertise in directing all things pertaining to
children, handbells, instrumental programs, and
establishing and coordinating various concert series.

Russ Pearson -Youth Minister

Russ graduated from Presbyterian
College in Clinton, S.C., majoring in Religion/Philosophy.
He actually went to PC to play baseball, before finding his call to branch
into Religion and specifically, Youth Ministry. After beginning in May
of 2006 Russ has implemented new ideas and events at First Presbyterian. The
youth participate in activities such as service projects, worship services,
youth groups, bible studies, and fellowship opportunities. He is excited to
see what God has in store for Youth Ministry at First Pres.

As the Church Business Administrator, Roseann provides general secretarial services to
the Pastor (Head of Staff). She is responsible for general coordination of
the church's business affairs and, in cooperation and coordination with
the various church committee chairpersons, actively participates in purchasing and the recruitment of church staff and nursery workers. Roaseann also supervises the custodial and support staff and oversees preparation and maintenance of the church's activities calendar and coordinates scheduling and use of church facilities.

Pat Brose-Membership Secretary

Pat's duties include receiving and greeting visitors, members, vendors, individuals seeking pastoral assistance and all others who may come onto the First Presbyterian Church premises as well as those who call or e-mail during regular church business hours Monday through Friday. She also serves as the central "clearing house" for the operation of the Deacons' Care Ministry program, maintains all information and statistics regarding membership including, but not limited to, the People Module of the ACS program. Pat also provides clerical/secretarial services for the church.

Patsy Allgood-Parish Nurse

Patsy serves as a professional resource and patient advocate for church members in matters related to health and wellness. She develops and presents health and wellness educational programs with a focus on a holistic (mind, body and spiritual) approach to health and healing.

Patsy, frequently called "Pat", is a Kingsport native. She graduated from ETSU's School of Nursing. Early in her career she worked at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center and has recently completed 29 years as the Occupational Health Nurse at AFG Industries. Pat joined First Presbyterian Church as our Parish Nurse in January 2006.
Those who have worked with Pat describe her as a good listener, very enthusiastic, genuinely compassionate and absolutely committed to maintaining confidences.
Pat believes God has had a hand in her selection for this position and has said, "I look forward to getting to know the church members as to working with them as their Parish Nurse. I will do whatever I can to help them deal with health issues."
Pat and her husband, Owen, have one daughter and one granddaughter.

Kim Alvis is a native of Kingsport, Tennessee where she has lived most of her life. She is a correspondent with the Kingsport Times-News and is also the owner/director of Art Life, a creative arts program offering classes, workshops, plays and publications for children. Kim joined the First Presbyterian Church staff in January, 2006.
